In the 1950s, Lee, a wealthy American, fled New Orleans after a police raid to Mexico City, where he frequented the queer scene and used drugs without restraint. It was there that he fell in love with Eugene, a former soldier who gave himself to him in exchange for financial favors. Together, they set off for South America in search of yage, a hallucinogenic plant.
